These are the rest of the pics from yesterday. We were wanting some classic American food and were missing home, so we went to McDonalds for lunch. There McDonalds are so much ncier than ours, are huge, and packed!
This is an idea of what the mountains look like. It is hard to capture them, but just about everywhere you go, there they are emerging behind the city buildings and distant farmlands.
These are more pics from the first museum we went to.
This is the outside of the second museum we went to, unfortunately they have a strict no camera policy, so I didn't get any pictures of the inside. It was basically a gallery. The entire first floor were orthodox and catholic idols, paintings of religious events, etc. The top two floors were more contemporary in nature, although many were still from the 13th and 14th centuries. The third floor was the most modern and had some truly stunning masterpieces that I wish I could take home with me!
This is just another pic of the mountains. These are a mountain range on the Turkish side. It was hard to capture, but the taunting Turkish flag is the white looking square on the lefthand side of the mts. It is a huge flag and is lit up at night. If I were Cypriot, the flag in the mts above the capital city would be seem harrassing, irritating, and forebearing.
I love that in a two minute walk, I can be viewing the ancient city walls (which are above and were once 13 meters higher!) and then within a few steps can be standing in front of a towering, modern skyscraper.
